Discover the Power of Pilates

Welcome to Eyre Place Pilates Studio – a space dedicated to helping you reconnect with your body.

Pilates is designed to realign your body, awaken your core, and improve your everyday life.  Rooted in the work of Joseph Pilates, this method blends precise, low-impact movements with deep muscle activation and intelligent stretching. It’s not about endless reps – it’s about purposeful motion that builds strength, flexibility, and posture.

The Core is at the Core

At the heart of Pilates lies your core: the muscles of your back, abdomen, and pelvic floor. These unsung heroes work to support everything you do – from walking and lifting to dancing. Strengthening your core isn’t just about fitness – it’s about reclaiming control and stability.

A Full-Body Approach

Pilates goes beyond the core – it’s a full body workout. With each session, you’ll uncover muscles you never knew existed, stretch in ways that feel fantastically freeing, and build lean, functional strength that supports your lifestyle.

Move Better, Feel Better, Live Better.

Whether you are looking for improved agility or strength or simply a deeper connection with your body, Pilates has something to offer you. You’ll stand taller, move more easily, and feel more alive in your own skin.

Pilates

Pilates is a system of exercise based on the principles of breathing, centring, control, precision, flow and concentration.  These principles form the foundation of a way of moving that enhances posture.   Key principles used in all classes:

  • Breathing: Using breathing patterns to coordinate with movements to promote strength, energy and fluidity of movement.
  • Centring: Pilates movement should start in your centre the “powerhouse”  the deep abdominals, pelvic floor and lower back muscles. Developing control and engagement of your powerhouse will enhance your practice.
  • Control:  Holding correct form through slow and controlled movements.  Combining concentration and flow will encourage quality over quantity and increase the benefits of your Pilates practice.
  • Precision:  By focusing on quality rather than quantity. Each movement has a purpose and technique to target specific areas.
  • Flow: Exercises should flow into one another to promote strength, stamina and flexibility
  • Concentration: Every movement focused on movement to encourage body and postural awareness, maximising the effectiveness of your Pilates class.
