Mary Monro
“Whenever I treat a newborn baby I know I am really treating the whole family – if baby is happy and settled, so is everyone else in the household!”
Mary has been a Registered Osteopath since 1999, focusing on the more gentle, so called ‘cranial’ osteopathic approach. Cranial implies that it is only for the head, but in fact this approach is effective for the whole body INCLUDING the head. It is particularly well suited to babies, children, pregnancy, older patients, complex or long-standing problems, hypermobility, coping with stress and emotional issues and health maintenance. Mary is a member of the Disclosure Scotland Protecting Vulnerable Groups scheme, meaning that she is cleared to work with children and vulnerable adults.
She enjoys caring for whole families – grandparents, parents, children, and sometimes the family pets too. She is also skilled at treating performers (especially musicians and singers) and is on the register for the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine.
Much of Mary’s post-graduate study has been devoted to honing her skills in cranial osteopathy. She is a Fellow and member of Faculty with the Sutherland Cranial College of Osteopathy (SCCO), has completed studies in Biodynamic Osteopathy and has a MSc in Paediatric Osteopathy. She is a member of the Institute of Osteopathy. She teaches osteopathy at post-grad level in the UK and internationally and has written articles for the osteopathic press, including its peer reviewed International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine.
